ATC for DK1-GE will be revised for 26.07.2010
EMCC will receive new ATC values for the interconnector DK1-GE for delivery date 26.07.2010. These values will fit to the UMM on NPS website. As soon as EMCC has received them the new values will be published.
The ATC for 26.07.2010 are published now.
On 04.07.2010 EMCC received ATC for the DK1 interconnector for delivery day 05.07.2010 before 10:00 o´clock. Due to a communication misunderstanding, EMCC received a revised ATC file for DK1 from Energinet.dk at 10:32, which EMCC uploaded and published at 10:50.
The market coupling calculation was performed as usual, so has been the cross border scheduling.
After 16:30 transpower informed EMCC that the schedules were higher than the original given ATC. Transpower reduced the schedules accordingly.
Thus, EMCC was long in Germany and short in Denmark 1 in the hours 0-6, 7-8, and 17-24 for DK 1, which EMCC tried to balance on the intraday markets in Germany and NPS. Additionally, transpower postponed a planned maintenance, which lead to some higher capacities for EMCC. Any other hour was not effected by the market coupling procedure.
In order to prevent any similar situations in future, EMCC will request from the capacity owner a second written confirmation prior to changes of the initial ATC and inform the market immediately via UMM and webpage.
The price spread values for tomorrow are finally published correct.
Due to technical problems there are still mistakes in the price spread values of Baltic Cable.
The right values will be published as soon as possible.

Market coupling for delivery on 11 March 2010 generated some adverse flows the hours 7-15 and 19-20 on the interconnector between Denmark West and Germany. This was due to a different execution of block bids in the systems of EMCC and EPEX Spot.
While EMCC’s algorithm aims at the maximization of economic welfare in the Nordic-German region, EPEX’ algorithm for the German market is programmed to maximize the traded volume. Thus, there may occasionally be differences in the selection and execution of block bids.
Since EMCC must respect all rules and constraints of both EPEX Spot and Nord Pool Spot, its algorithm works like two systems in one. It tries to find the optimum of both markets under the economic welfare criterion.
